This excellent facility contributes to
Middleham's local racehorse training
industry being one of the best equipped training centres in the North.
Situated adjacent to Spigot
Lodge and near the High Moor gallops the Equine Pool and Veterinary Centre provides
the most up to date hydro- therapy treatments for all horses, especially
sporting horses. Any horse with appropriate vaccination Certificate is welcome
to come and try our treatment whether to add to training routine or after injury
The Centre comprises, swimming pool, water treadmill, solarium, ten stables
and soon an on site veterinary centre:
The benefits
of swimming a horse are widely recognised ~ building stamina and muscle
tone, providing excellent exercise without putting pressure on the back,
knees or other joints as might be incurred on the gallops or during normal
training routines for example and particularly excellent for improving the
cardio vascular system...
Horses laid up through injury can very quickly lose muscle tone and
swimming can provide just the right amount of work to keep them near to
physical fitness saving on valuable recovery time.
There is also an Underwater Treadmill with Jacuzzi action to massage and stimulate the blood vessels in the lower legs ~ extremely useful in treating sore shins and joints.
After swimming, the horses are dried off under the heat/lights in the solarium.
The Centre is available on a walk-in basis or
your horse(s) can be stabled here for continued
treatment or swims.
There are
10 secure indoor stables for
your horse to stay longer.
Livery costs are �20.00 + vat per day
All horses are welcome - not just racehorses, but hunters, point to
pointers,
eventers and show jumpers - providing they have a valid current
vaccination certificate.
